Solar Light Project
The Issue
A large bulk of the people in villages of rural impoverished areas lack adequate electricity. Energy provision remains a key problem for thousands of people in these parts of the world, where resources are limited for them to convert energy into useful services. There are approximately 1.5 billion people around the world who do not have access to electricity. These people live in tiny houses with no proper windows or ventilation and depend on kerosene lamps to illuminate their home. However, kerosene oil is expensive, does not offer good lighting and produces toxic gases when burnt which is health threatening to the occupants. Every year, millions of people are poisoned from the use of kerosene.
Due to the lack of light for these under-privileged people, social time, housework and any educational activities for children are extremely restricted during the evening. The inconvenience posed by inadequate electricity is immense for the already distressed people, trapping them in a cycle of misfortune.
Our solution
Inspired by Brazilian inventor Alfredo Moser, using a 1.5 liter bottle of water and the simple physics of light refraction, a solar bottle refracts light of approximately 40 to 60 watts (comparable to an average incandescent bulb) and able to light up a living space of 15 square meters with a shell life cycle of up to 5 years. These solar bottles are already being utilized in rural areas all over the world.
Despite the novel innovation, the solar bottles come with a slight limitation. It is only effective in the day when the sun is out and rendered unworkable during the night when these people need light the most.
However, after months of research by the engineers at D’Cadre, we have finally obtained a solution. By adding a small solar panel and LED bulbs to the contraption, the solar bottle is able to convert and store energy for later use at night when the sun is out.
Help us illuminate lives one light at a time
D’cadre solar project aims to solve one problem at a time, unlike some companies who aim to build large solar farms which will take years to complete. D’cadre uses a more effective guerrilla method, installing one solar lamp per household, one at a time, we provide light to the people almost instantaneously. There’s never been a more important time to support our mission. With your small contribution, we will build a grassroots movement in support of a bright future. Be part of the solution and donate today!
